- Easy approval was only slightly more common than Medium approval: 51.2% vs 44.9% among 254 classified records.
- 125 of the 275 benchmarkable programs were marked global, equal to 45.5% of the analyzed set.
- The average directory rating was 7.43/10 across 269 records with a parseable rating.
Methodology
This report uses structured records stored in the Affiliates Directory Webflow CMS on October 25, 2026. At the time of analysis, the Websites collection contained 293 records. We treated a record as benchmarkable when it contained at least one of the following populated fields: commission model, cookie duration, minimum payout, approval classification or directory rating.
That produced a 275-program benchmarkable set. Sample sizes vary by metric because not every affiliate program publicly discloses every term.
| Metric | Records with data | Coverage of benchmarkable set |
|---|---|---|
| Commission model | 272 | 98.9% |
| Cookie duration | 274 | 99.6% |
| Minimum payout | 274 | 99.6% |
| Approval classification | 254 | 92.4% |
| Directory rating | 269 | 97.8% |
| Affiliate software | 269 | 97.8% |
| Category | 274 | 99.6% |
We did not force unlike values into one number. For example, payout thresholds stated in EUR, GBP, CAD, TWD or method-specific terms were not converted into USD. The USD payout benchmark therefore uses only records whose payout field begins with a dollar amount.
Revenue Share dominates the commission-model data
Revenue Share was by far the most frequently classified model in the dataset. It appeared in 245 of 272 programs with a populated commission-model field.
| Commission model | Programs | Share of classified programs |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue Share (RS) | 245 | 90.1% |
| CPA | 131 | 48.2% |
| Hybrid | 99 | 36.4% |
| CPS | 23 | 8.5% |
| CPL | 6 | 2.2% |
| CPI | 2 | 0.7% |
These categories overlap. A casino affiliate program, for example, may offer Revenue Share, CPA and Hybrid simultaneously. The data therefore tells us how frequently each model appears, not the percentage of programs using one exclusive model.
30 days is the dominant cookie duration
Among 274 programs with a populated cookie-duration field, 30 days was the most common single value. It appeared 115 times, equal to 42.0% of the cookie-field sample.
*βUndisclosedβ groups values such as not stated, not publicly disclosed, merchant-specific, offer-specific, variable or self-customizable because they cannot be compared as fixed durations.
Among records with a numeric duration, the median cookie duration was 30 days. Other numeric values in the dataset included 3, 35, 45, 60, 90, 100, 120, 180 and 365 days.
βEasyβ approval is common β but not overwhelming
We found 254 records with a usable approval classification. Easy approval was the largest group, but Medium approval was close behind.
| Approval classification | Programs | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 130 | 51.2% |
| Medium | 114 | 44.9% |
| Manual | 7 | 2.8% |
| Other | 3 | 1.2% |
This is a useful reminder for beginners: βaffiliate programβ does not automatically mean instant approval. Nearly half of the classified programs in our dataset were not marked Easy.
$50 is the median USD payout threshold
Payout data is harder to benchmark globally because programs use different currencies and sometimes publish method-specific thresholds. To avoid false precision, we analyzed the 172 records whose minimum-payout field begins with a USD amount separately.
Fifty-one programs in that USD sample had a threshold below $50. Across the broader dataset, four records explicitly stated no minimum payout or a $0 threshold.
Less than half of benchmarked programs were marked global
Of the 275 benchmarkable programs, 125 were marked as global in the structured dataset, or 45.5%.
That means geographic eligibility deserves more attention than it often receives in affiliate-program roundups. A high commission is irrelevant if the publisher or audience is outside the program's accepted markets.
Proprietary affiliate software is still common
Among 269 records with a populated affiliate-software field, proprietary software was the single most common label. The largest software/platform groupings in the dataset were:
| Software / platform | Programs in dataset |
|---|---|
| Proprietary Software | 92 |
| Super Partners | 34 |
| Travelpayouts | 24 |
| EGamingOnline | 14 |
| Buffalo Partners | 13 |
| PartnerStack | 8 |
| Mate Affiliates | 8 |
| Rewardful | 7 |
| FirstPromoter | 5 |
| Affilka | 5 |
Because one affiliate platform can power multiple merchant brands, these counts should be interpreted as directory records using or associated with that platform, not as market-share estimates for the entire affiliate industry.
Which categories are most represented?
The current directory is not a perfectly balanced sample of the affiliate industry. Gambling and AI are heavily represented, which is why we disclose category composition rather than presenting the dataset as a random global census.
| Category | Benchmarkable programs |
|---|---|
| Gambling | 120 |
| Artificial Intelligence | 41 |
| Travel and Hospitality | 28 |
| Marketing Platform | 11 |
| Finance and Investment | 10 |
| Health & Fitness | 8 |
| Hosting | 8 |
| Affiliate Software | 6 |
| Affiliate Network | 5 |
| E-Commerce and Retail | 5 |
| VPN Services | 5 |
This composition makes the report especially useful for comparing common affiliate structures, but it also means readers should not interpret a directory-wide percentage as an unbiased estimate of every affiliate program on the internet.
The average directory rating is 7.43/10
Across 269 records with a parseable rating, the mean Affiliates Directory rating was 7.43 out of 10.
This is an editorial score from the directory, not a user-review average or industry-standard metric. We include it here to describe the dataset rather than to imply a universal quality benchmark.
What these benchmarks mean for affiliates
30 days is a useful baseline, not a guarantee
With 30 days dominating the cookie-duration data and a 30-day median among numeric values, affiliates can use it as a practical reference point when comparing attribution windows. A shorter window is not automatically bad, and a longer window is not automatically better; purchase cycle and attribution rules matter too.
Revenue Share is widespread in this directory
The prevalence of Revenue Share reflects the strong representation of gambling, SaaS and recurring-commission programs in the dataset. Affiliates should compare how the program defines revenue, how long the commission lasts and whether activity requirements apply.
Approval deserves its own comparison
Only 51.2% of classified records were marked Easy. Beginners should check approval expectations before building an entire content plan around a program.
Payout thresholds cluster around familiar numbers
Within the clean USD subset, $50 and $100 were especially common. That matters for smaller publishers because a high threshold can delay the first payout even when commissions are accruing.
Limitations of this report
- The directory is curated, not a random sample of all affiliate programs worldwide.
- Some categories are overrepresented, particularly gambling and AI.
- Program terms change, sometimes without notice.
- Some public terms are merchant-specific, offer-specific or negotiated.
- Currency values were not converted into a single currency unless the original record already used USD.
- Commission-model counts overlap because programs can support multiple models.
- βGlobalβ reflects the structured directory field and should not be interpreted as legal availability in every jurisdiction.
We plan to update this benchmark as the directory grows and program information changes.

FAQ: Affiliate program benchmarks
How many affiliate programs were analyzed?
The directory contained 293 program records on October 25, 2026. Of those, 275 had enough structured data to contribute to at least one core benchmark. Individual metric sample sizes are shown throughout the report.
What is the most common affiliate cookie duration?
Thirty days was the most common single cookie duration in our dataset, appearing in 115 of 274 records with a populated cookie-duration field.
What is the median affiliate cookie duration?
Among records that disclosed a numeric cookie duration, the median was 30 days.
What is the most common commission model?
Revenue Share appeared most often, in 245 of 272 programs with a classified commission model. Programs can support more than one model, so model percentages overlap.
What is a typical affiliate payout threshold?
Among 172 records with a clean USD-denominated minimum payout, the median threshold was $50. This should not be generalized to every currency or every affiliate program worldwide.
Can other websites cite this report?
Yes. Publishers may cite the statistics with attribution to Affiliates Directory and a link to this report. We recommend preserving the sample size for each statistic.
Final takeaway
The strongest lesson from these 293 directory records is that headline commission alone is a poor way to compare affiliate programs. Attribution, approval, payout requirements, geography and commission structure can change the economics dramatically.
For publishers, the best program is not necessarily the one with the highest percentage. It is the one whose commercial model, audience, attribution rules and payout structure fit the traffic you can actually generate.
