Stake Canada has secured Alberta regulatory approval and is targeting a 12 October 2026 launch, subject to completing an operating agreement with Alberta iGaming Corporation.
Stake Canada Ltd. has secured Alberta regulatory approval as the company prepares to enter the province's regulated iGaming market. The operator is targeting 12 October 2026 for the launch of an Alberta-specific online casino and sportsbook.
The launch is still conditional: Stake must complete an operating agreement with Alberta iGaming Corporation before it can begin taking bets in the regulated market.
Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis serves as the regulator, while Alberta iGaming Corporation oversees the commercial operation of the market. Alberta's competitive regulated iGaming market officially launched on 13 July 2026.
The Alberta product is expected to operate as a locally regulated version rather than simply directing players to the global Stake.com site.
Stake is one of the most recognisable casino and sportsbook brands in the crypto-gambling sector. A locally regulated Alberta launch would represent a materially different proposition from its global platform, with provincial rules, local player protections and market-specific payments.
The move is also important for Canada's wider iGaming market. Alberta is the second major Canadian province to embrace a competitive regulated online gambling model after Ontario, and the arrival of a large international brand will increase competition for casino and sportsbook customers.
The 12 October date should still be treated as a target. Stake must complete its operating agreement with Alberta iGaming Corporation before the regulated platform can begin taking bets.
Once live, Alberta players should use the locally regulated version rather than assume the global Stake.com platform is the same product. Licensing, payment methods, promotions and responsible-gambling controls can differ between the two.
Before depositing, players should verify that the Alberta site appears on the appropriate provincial operator list.
